Subject: Urgent Attention Required to Water Shortage in ZK Colony

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities of Guwahati Municipal Corporation about water scarcity in our locality.

In our colony, shortage of water has been affecting the residents for the past month. The water supply has become erratic, with some areas receiving little to no water for days. This situation is particularly troublesome during the early morning hours and late evenings when most families require water for daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and bathing.

Water is supplied for ten minutes only in the morning and for the same time in the evening. We have to depend on this water. For the rest of the day, the taps remain dry. Even the quality of the water is very unhygienic. This kind of unhygienic water causes diseases such as typhoid and jaundice. It is feared that they may break out as an epidemic if the quality of the water isn’t improved. Furthermore, purchasing water daily is causing economic crisis in our area. This situation is affecting immense stress in all of us.

Many representations have been made to the authorities, but all in vain. We hope that the concerned authorities will take immediate steps to ensure adequate supply of good quality water. Therefore, as a resident of our locality, I request the authority to take actions as soon as possible so that people don’t have to face problems.

Yours sincerely

Rehena

Subject: Poor condition of roads in our locality in Mirza

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the poor condition of roads in our locality.

For several months, the roads have been in a terrible state, with numerous potholes, cracks, and uneven surfaces, making it extremely difficult for vehicles and pedestrians to move around safely. They have not been repaired for quite sometimes.

The situation worsens during the monsoon season when waterlogged potholes create additional hazards. Not only do they slow down the traffic but also cause several accidents. As a result, we have been witnessing huge traffic jams in peak hours. The main roads that connect us to the outer world, are not cemented well and narrow. It becomes troublesome to walk on because of manholes. The vehicles have to halt to adjust with the roads. People even cannot drive their vehicle properly.

The poor road conditions have caused frequent accidents. Moreover, school children and elderly people face great difficulty navigating these dangerous roads, risking their safety daily.

We have tried to bring this problem to be noticed by the concerned authorities. However, all our efforts have gone in vain so far. Therefore, as a resident of our locality, I request the authority to take necessary actions as soon as possible so that people don’t have to suffer anymore.

Yours faithfully

Subject: Erratic Power Supply in Shivnagar During Study Hours

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the erratic power supply, particularly during study hours in our area.

The residents of our locality have to undergo untold sufferings due to power supply. In summer, the helpless residents spend sleepless nights due to the motion of the electric fan is in rest all the times. Students are the highly sufferer. Whenever, they sit at the table for study, the light goes off. As a result, their minds get disturbed and do not want to sit for study until the light comes.

Not only that, there are growing thieves in our locality by taking chance of frequent power cut. Many people of our area depend on electric motor to draw water, but due to load shedding, taps remain dry all the day and we, the people of our locality can’t use water for our basic needs too. Even when there is power supply, the voltage of the electricity is very low. Because of this, electrical appliances get damaged.

We have tried to bring this problem to be noticed by the concerned authorities. However, all our efforts have gone in vain at all. Therefore, as a resident of our locality, I request the authority to take necessary steps as soon as possible so that people of our area don’t have to face the same problem again.

Yours sincerely

Rita

Subject: Reckless driving Reckless Driving in Duliajan

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards reckless driving in our locality. The increasing reckless driving in the roads, leading to countless accidents everyday.

In recent months, there has been a marked increase in traffic violations, with many drivers speeding through narrow lanes, ignoring traffic signals, and engaging in dangerous overtaking. This reckless driving has put the lives of pedestrians and other road users at risk, leading to frequent accidents.

The most worried aspect is that the parents’ allowing immature children to drive high-end vehicles on road, causes maximum accidents. The recent death of two school children in a road accident terrified the area. Apart from this, the traffic police appear to be lazily indifferent to the problem. Even after being caught, the culprits are not punished of their political and monetary connection. Overtaking and snatching passengers are two major aspects to concern.  Hardly a day passes without any accident. The death toll is increasing day by day.

Therefore, I appeal to the concerned that license should be issued after thorough testing. The D.T.C. should periodic trainings of its drivers. The traffic police should be strict against those who are involved in reckless driving. Campaign regarding road safety should be made periodically. If the necessary steps aren’t taken, the road will become veritable killer roads.

Yours sincerely

Subject: Noise Pollution in Fancy Bazar and Its Impact

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the increased issue of noise pollution in our locality.

In our area, noise pollution has become a major cause to concern. It becomes irksome, leads loss of sleep, rest and peace. Loud noise is harmful to physical and mental health of people. Frequent loud noise disturbed working efficiency of the people. Persistent noise pollution helps to loss of sense of hearing. Due to noise pollution, students are disturbed and they are unable to concentrate on studies and even suffer due to lack of sleep.

If the noise pollution is not controlled and allowed to go unchecked, residents will have to undergo a lot of troubles. Large number of vehicles on the roads, increasing number of factories, construction work, loudspeakers used on various occasions, rock and pop music etc. are the significant factors responsible for causing noise pollution. Noise control laws are highly violated.

I request the authorities to enforce strict noise control laws. Lastly, I hope the concerned authorities will take adequate actions against this issue which affects the whole population of the area.

Sub: Insensitive use of loudspeaker during festival in Fancy Bazar

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the insensitive use of loudspeaker during festival in our locality.

In our area, the insensitive usage of loudspeaker has become a major cause to concern. It becomes irksome, leads loss of sleep, rest and peace. Sensitive loudspeaker is harmful to physical and mental health of people. Frequent loud noise disturbed working efficiency of the people. Persistent noise pollution helps to loss of sense of hearing. Due to the use of loud speaker, students are disturbed and they are unable to concentrate on studies and even suffer due to lack of sleep.

If the usage is not controlled and allowed to go unchecked, residents will have to undergo a lot of troubles. It is the time for students to go through the various kinds of exams but burdened by the noise of the loudspeakers. Festival and religious events are continually being organized by keeping the volume of the speaker high which is responsible for causing noise pollution also. People can’t sleep well after spending a hard day. Noise control laws are highly violated.

I request the authorities to enforce strict laws against these loudspeakers. Lastly, I hope the concerned authorities will take adequate actions against this issue which affects the whole population of the area.

Subject: Violation of traffic rules in our locality in Duliajan

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the frequent violation of traffic rules in our locality. Countless accidents and disregard for pedestrian crossings by the frequent traffic rules violators should be come into light.

There is not a single day that we don’t hear of accidents caused by reckless driving. Most of the buses and lorries are driven very recklessly at a great speed violating traffic rules through   the   crowded   streets. Not only this behavior puts all road users in danger, but also a major source of inconvenience for those who follow the rules.

The constant honking and chaos created by these violators make it difficult to walk on roads. There   is   a   chance   of   causing   accident in every moment.   Due   to   their ignorance, innocent people lose their lives. The danger is not only to the pedestrians but, sometimes the buses and lorries collide with other vehicles causing severe injuries to the passengers. So, such violators must be checked.

Therefore, through the column of your widely circulated newspaper daily, I want to draw the attention of the government in taking necessary measures to reduce the frequent violation of traffic rules in our locality.

Subject: The Evils of Ragging in Educational Institutions

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I am writing to express my concern regarding the widespread practice of ragging in various educational institutions. Despite strict laws and regulations against it, ragging continues to be a serious problem affecting countless students, particularly freshers. This practice has turned into a harmful and dangerous activity that causes significant emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical harm to students.

Many juniors, especially those who are new to college life, are subjected to severe humiliation and even physical abuse in the name of ragging. The negative impact on their mental health is profound, with cases of depression, anxiety, and, in some tragic instances, suicides being reported. The fear and trauma caused by ragging affect their academic performance and personal well-being.

It is high time that educational institutions take stronger and more effective measures to prevent ragging. Strict anti-ragging policies must be enforced, and a zero-tolerance approach should be adopted. Moreover, there should be continuous awareness campaigns and counselling sessions to educate students about the adverse effects of ragging.

Therefore, through the column of your widely circulated newspaper daily, I want to draw the attention of the government and concerned authorities in taking necessary measures against ragging, and I trust that it will contribute to building a safer and more supportive environment for students across educational institutions.

Subject: A Plea for Immediate Action Against Illicit Liquor and Dangerous Chemicals

Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the issues that are causing untold suffering to the people in our region, particularly the rampant sale of illicit liquor and the dangers posed by toxic chemicals like anthrax. These problems not only affect the physical well-being of the community but are also eroding the social fabric.

Illicit liquor is freely available in many parts of our area, leading to an increase in alcoholism and related health issues. The local authorities seem to be turning a blind eye to the illegal activities, and as a result, the youth are falling prey to these dangerous substances. Many people have lost their lives or are suffering from long-term health conditions due to consuming unregulated and toxic liquor.

Furthermore, the recent reports about deadly chemicals, such as anthrax, being sold and used in various products have left the community in fear. It’s a matter of utmost urgency that the authorities take swift and stringent measures to control the sale of such harmful substances and protect the people from these looming threats.

I urge the concerned authorities to take immediate action against the production and sale of illicit liquor and harmful chemicals. Only with combined effort from the government, health agencies, and the public can we hope to eradicate these dangers from our society.

Thank you for giving attention to this serious issue.

Yours faithfully,

Subject: Rising Prices of Essential Commodities in North Lakhimpur

Respected Sir/Madam,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities about the increasing prices of essential commodities in our area. As a resident of North Lakhimpur, I have noticed that the cost of daily necessities like rice, vegetables, cooking oil, and fuel has gone up significantly in recent months.

The rising prices are affecting everyone, but the poor and middle-class families are suffering the most. Many families are struggling to afford even basic meals, and this situation is causing a lot of stress and hardship. This has made it difficult for ordinary people, especially those with limited incomes, to manage their household expenses.

I believe the government should take immediate steps to control these price hikes. Measures like increasing the supply of goods, reducing taxes on essential items, and cracking down on hoarding and black marketing could help bring prices down. Public awareness campaigns about fair pricing and consumer rights might also be useful.

I hope your newspaper will highlight this issue so that the authorities take notice and act quickly. It is important to address this problem before it becomes even more severe.  So, I request the authority to take immediate measures to step down the prices.

Yours sincerely,

Manab

Subject: The Need for Responsible Waste Management in Bylane-2

Respected Sir/Madam,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities about the significant issue of improper garbage disposal in our city, which has become a major environmental and public health concern.

Despite efforts by municipal authorities, heaps of unattended waste can be seen on streets, near drains, and even in residential areas, leading to clogged sewers, foul smells, and the spread of diseases. Animals roaming through garbage and plastic waste choking water bodies further worsen the situation.

The root of the problem lies in a lack of awareness and civic responsibility. Many residents continue to mix biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste or dump garbage carelessly instead of using designated bins. While municipal waste collection exists, irregular services and insufficient segregation facilities discourage proper disposal.

To address this, a multi-pronged approach is needed. Public awareness campaigns through media, schools, and community programs can educate citizens on waste segregation, composting, and recycling. Municipal authorities must ensure timely waste collection and impose penalties for littering.

I hope your newspaper will highlight this issue so that the authorities take notice and act quickly. It is important to address this problem before it becomes even more severe.  So, I request the authority to take immediate measures to step down the issue. A cleaner city is not just the government’s duty but every resident’s responsibility.

Yours sincerely,

Kamal
